Wednesday, June 8, 2011 POTSDAM -- Two Potsdam women are accused of threatening to falsely accuse a man of rape if he didn't give them a car. Village police say that Christine L. Laraby, 45, and Miranda L. Laraby, 17, threatened a man that they would report to police that he had physically abused and raped Miranda Laraby if he did not sign over his vehicle to the defendants with a note saying that they had paid him $500 cash for it. Police say the defendants subsequently took possession of the man's 1997 Subaru Legacy. The police allege that the women subsequently told the victim that if he did not buy new tires for the vehicle and give them $500, they would carry through on their earlier threat.

June 22, 2010 - Orlando police warned the public Tuesday morning that making a false claim is a crime after they said the 18-year-old woman who claimed she was raped Monday was lying. Samaria Renford called police after she wrecked her boyfriend's BMW on Rosamond Drive near North Orange Blossom Trail. The report states Renford hoped if her boyfriend found out she was raped, he'd take her back and be nicer to her. Local police are planning to discuss Tuesday morning the recent spike in false rape being reported. Police said another woman, Luisa Martinez, also made a false claim she was raped on East Pine Street in downtown Orlando.

Then in 1985, after becoming a born-again Christian, she came forward to confess it was all a fabrication.

June 13, 2009 - Parker,Colo. A 22-year-old woman who claimed a Parker police officer beat and raped her after she was kicked out of a bar was arrested Thursday on charges of false reporting. Petersen and several friends were at the Tailgate Tavern in Parker, and were asked to leave because the bar was closing. Petersen became uncooperative because she didn't want to leave so bar staffers called police for help. Petersen was escorted out of the bar by two uniformed Parker police officers. Later Petersen reported that she was "beaten and raped" by one of those officers.

August 13,2009 Biurny Peguero(aka Biurny Gonzalez), accused McCaffrey of raping her in September 2005, and he was convicted by the State Supreme Court in Manhattan. But in March, Gonzalez confessed to her priest, and later to her attorney, that she had fabricated the rape story. Gonzalez initially accused McCaffrey of raping her while on the way to a late-night party. According to the Post, Gonzalez now says she lied about being raped because her friends were angry with her for stranding them without a ride when she went off to the party with McCaffrey.

After spending a decade behind bars, a former Camp Pendleton Marine is now a free man because a military appeals court ruled that "a muddled, hearsay-based case" caused his spousal-rape conviction. His ordeal began when a military jury at Camp Pendleton convicted him of spousal rape and related charges on Dec. 3, 1999. He received a 17-year prison sentence. But in a February ruling, a three-member appellate panel cited a host of problems with the prosecution's case: "There was no forensic evidence of the alleged rape. Foster and his wife, Heather, continued having sex for years after the alleged rape and even made a sex tape together. The rape accusation arose during a contentious divorce and custody battle for the couple's two boys. The court-martial judge allowed misleading or unreliable testimony from three witnesses. Foster's lead attorney handled the case poorly, such as not cross-examining a crucial witness." The judges dismissed the rape charge with prejudice, meaning it can't be refiled. Foster can be retried for aggravated assault and making threats linked to other alleged incidents, but the appellate panel said if he's convicted, his maximum punishment would be a dishonorable discharge.
